SEELEY LAKE – This fall, you may have noticed the large white truck with "Health Matters" printed on the side parked behind the Bison and Bear Center in Seeley Lake. Care Net of Missoula recently expanded their services reaching outside of Missoula with their mobile unit. Services include pregnancy testing, limited ultrasounds, free or reduced cost STD/STI testing, material goods, education and emotional support. They will be in Seeley Lake again Jan. 9.

Care Net Pregnancy Support Center of Missoula is a Christian, non-profit organization. The Center is committed to supporting women, men and their families who are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy by providing educational, emotional and material support. All assistance is offered free-of-charge (except certain STD/STI tests carry a low lab fee) regardless of personal history or religious beliefs. The Center's goal is to provide compassionate, non-judgmental care with the utmost level of confidentiality.

This past spring the Missoula center teamed up with Clear Choice Clinic, a pro-life center in Kalispell, to create and purchase a mobile medical unit. The vehicle was custom-built by Nomad Global Communication Solutions of Kalispell to ensure it could travel to rural parts of the state year-round and be equipped to offer mobile ultra sounds.

The unit was purchased through local fundraising, the help of the Knights of Columbus Councils in Montana and in California and the Gianforte Family Foundation.

Each center has use of the vehicle twice a month. They provide their own medical staff, volunteer advocate and driver. The mobile clinic brings everything available at the Missoula and Kalispell Centers to the communities of Seeley Lake, Ronan, Hamilton, Libby, Browning and Polson.

Care Net in Missoula's Nurse Manager Karri Kaufman, RN said this is the first mobile unit in Montana. She added it is an incredible outreach opportunity to rural communities where these services are not readily available and patients may not have the ability or the resources to travel to the clinic in Missoula or Kalispell.

Care Net of Missoula will be in Seeley Lake with their Mobile Unit Jan. 9, Feb. 6, March 5 and April 9. Please call 406-549-0406 to schedule an appointment on those dates. Depending on the schedule, walk-ins are welcome and members of the community are welcome to tour the unit.
