Q. I'm dating again after a long marriage and wondering how to ask a new partner if he's been tested for sexually transmitted infections. Any tips? A. That's a thorny issue for many people who've re-emerged on the dating scene after a lengthy, monogamous relationship. But discussing sexually transmitted infections (STIs) early in a new relationship is absolutely crucial to protecting both partners' health, since learning if either of you is infected can prevent the disease from spreading. Don't count on noticing signs alerting you to STIs, which include genital herpes, hepatitis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, pubic lice, human papillomavirus (HPV), or HIV/AIDS. Top Fuel veteran Doug Kalitta is in line for his second straight No. 1 qualifier position in Phoenix, powering to the provisional top spot on Friday at the NHRA Arizona Nationals at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park. Blake Alexander (Funny Car) and Cristian Cuadra (Pro Stock) are also the provisional No. 1 qualifiers at the second of 21 races during the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season. Kalitta, who has 49 career Top Fuel victories, went 3.679-seconds at 330.23 mph in his 11,000-horsepower Mac Tools dragster to go to No. 1. Should it hold, Kalitta would pick up his first No. 1 qualifier since last year in Phoenix and the 52nd in his career. It marks another strong moment in the early part of the season for the veteran. He struggled a year ago, including a first-round upset in Phoenix last year, but is motivated for a big turnaround in 2023. "The car was strong and to go out and run a 3.67 was pretty cool," Kalitta said. "My guys have been working their...

Trichomoniasis: Signs, Symptoms and Complications - Verywell Health

Most people who have trichomoniasis do not have any symptoms, yet women who are infected are more likely to develop symptoms than men who are infected. San Diego County has recorded 20 cases so far this year of candida auris, an antibiotic-resistant yeast that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned this week is spreading "at an alarming rate in U.S. health care facilities." Locally, the number of cases reported has jumped from three in 2020 to nine in 2021 and 60 in 2022, according to the county health department. The 20 cases reported from January through March this year set a pace to exceed last year's total. Nationwide infections, first reported in 2016, grew from 476 in 2019 to 1,471 in 2021, according to the CDC. The agency said it continued to see an increase in cases in 2022, though it did not state a number. Dr. John Bradley, medical director of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego, said this threat is not nearly as wide-reaching as the COVID-19 coronavirus has been during the pandemic. Healthy people, whether adults or children, can fight off infection...
