Bi-Mart selling all pharmacies to Walgreens; patients' prescriptions files will transfer starting in October - The Register-Guard

The Northwest retail chain Bi-Mart announced Thursday it is selling all 56 of its pharmacy businesses to Walgreens. The sale will result in all Bi-Mart patient prescription files and pharmacy inventory being  transferred over to Walgreens, according to an announcement from its executive team. Bi-Mart retail stores are not closing as a result of the deal.  The prescription file transfers are expected to begin in mid-October and be completed by January.  Bi-Mart pharmacists and pharmacy staff will have an opportunity to apply for open positions at Walgreens, the release states.  Bi-Mart has 11 locations with pharmacies in Lane County, according to Bi-Mart's store finder, including four locations in Eugene, two in Springfield and one each in Cottage Grove, Creswell, Florence, Junction City and Veneta.  The sale was made in order to strengthen Bi-Mart's financial position and expand p...
